Work in Progress

Am I suggesting that life is a work in progress, or could I just not think of a title? You decide...

Make a paper chain
This page is now in Italy, with the lovely Fab - you can see her pictures of it on her blog. It was meant to be a swap but unfortunately when she sent me hers, the envelope was savaged by a wild postman and the page was lost. So instead I count this as giving away my favourite page, and I’ll stick a photo of it in instead.

The card I made for my lovely boyfriend’s birthday. I wasveryproud of this, managed to make it all by myself - no following a guide, no ideas from a magazine. I tried to make it steampunk, and was chuffed to find the perfect set of stamps from mum’s collection, including one that has a maths equation and a microscope on it (relevant as he’s quite a science-y person).

All the card used was originally white, I altered the colours with Distress Ink pads. The background is made up of stamped images, coloured with the yellow and brown ink pads, and then the edges torn to give a rougher effect. The little ‘frame’ around the main image is pieces of wood broken off from an old cigar box liner, and there’s some splinters of it underneath the pocket watch. I also changed the colour of the envelope and stamped an appropriate postal-themed image on it.

I probably just rambled about how it’s made way too much, but I was just so proud of creating a card that looked halfway decent! :) So, what do you think?

I finally made some Sherlock badges. I’m really proud of them. I only made 8 of the 20 something designs I have, but I might make more soon. They’re mostly just quotes but some have little pictures on, like the Bluebell one (probably my favourite.)

Each one is handmade so if you’re interested in buying one (or lots), by all means let me know via an ask, and I can arrange something with you, it just means that every single one will be slightly different. But I quite like that idea, all unique. I don’t have photoshop or any editing skills so I just find it best to do it with good old fashioned pens and paper :).

p.s. I know that the pants quote isn’t exactly right, but it makes me smile anyway :) More importantly, what do you think of my little creations?

First pairs of earrings with handmade polymer clay charms/beads. You might recognise the brown bead ones from my post yesterday.

I’m quite proud of them and hope they sell at the Christmas craft fayre on Friday (unless anybody here on Tumblr asks to buy them first :p)

Just need to get more headpins in time to make other colours…

Edit: p.s. How much would you expect to pay for these?

Just giving a fair warning…

Tumble-Bees!

This is officially fair warning that the next goodness-knows-how-many-day’s worth of posts will be filled with photos of my latest crafty creations. Although to be honest, That’s usually all I post photos of anyway.

I have been an especially busy bee of late, preparing for the craft fayre at which I will be selling my wares on Friday, although it looks like the weather is going to be horrendous, eep. Hope I still get some customers :(. If you’re local (i.e. Berkshire or Oxfordshire in England) then do pop along if you can. This Friday, the 16th, at Milton Park, Didcot.

Anyway, you might like to know what I’ve been making, so that you can mentally prepare yourselves for seeing pictures of it all… *ahem*. Well, some of the photos will be of a couple of Christmas cards I’ve been making, and the rest will feature such delights as my first attempts at earrings (still no sign of replacement head pins, argh!), little owl brooches, big(ger) lavender owls, recycled magazine boxes and a candle. Exciting stuff indeed. Stay tuned!

In other news, I have 19 followers on my Tumbly-wotsit now, so welcome to any newbies. It’s nice to know that there may be people actually looking at all the reams of stuff I post :p.

Have a lovely week, people, and I hope you enjoy seeing my creations.

M x

p.s. Just to whet your appetites, here’s a photo of one of the pairs of earrings I’ll be displaying on my stall on Friday.
