I know the movie has been released in the US. I know that thousands of people have been to see it in the cinema. I know people are incredibly excited.
I’ve noticed lots more footage and song clips appearing on here in the past day, and a lot of the footage is obviously filmed from the…
I completely agree here - don’t do it, for the sake of not doing something illegal. Also, it’s really annoying for those of us in other countries who can’t see it yet. I won’t be able to see it until mid December and it would be really disappointing if most of it has been spoilt by clips and gifs. I don’t watch trailers much because I like to know as little of the film as possible when going to see it, but when things come up on my dash it’s hard to avoid it.
Please, only post things that aren’t pirated, and if possible, hold off on the more spoilery type stuff until the film has been released in more countries.
Ok, so now that the hype of the 50th is over and I’m done being over the thrill of a new DW episode, I can finally come clean with the fact that I was disappointed.
Did I enjoy it? Yeah, of course I did! New 11 material, AND new 10 material, and them together was really lovely to see. But I…
I completely know what you mean. The thing that’s bugging me though, is that Christopher Eccleston should have been in it as much as David Tennant and Matt Smith were.
I also don’t get what number John Hurt was meant to be. My parents insisted he must have come before all of the others, but he was only 400 years younger than Eleven, and he was the Doctor who fought in the time war whereas Nine was the first Doctor after the timewar, so that means he must technically be… well, number nine. But then Ecclestone would be Ten, Tennant would be Eleven, Matt Smith would be Twelve… the idea of changing it now seems impossible, so I’m gonna go ahead and call Hurt 8b. If anyone has a better idea, let me know…
Okay, so in Science class yesterday we were talking about sleep cycles and melatonin and my science teacher said, “if you’re trying to sleep, avoid one colour. Blue. Your melatonin levels decrease when looking at the colour blue because it’s the colour of the sky.” GUYS, I KNOW WHY NONE OF US SLEEP. TUMBLR IS BLUE.
But…but… my entire room is blue! Blue walls, blue cupboards, blue curtains, blue bedding… suddenly it makes sense why I always sleep better in other people’s houses…
Goodness me, I don’t know how I managed to leave this so long! Back in the summer I made another two Guide/Scout badge trades through Tumblr. I usually share pictures of what I’ve sent and received, so here we go!
There’s a Diamond Jubilee badge, the Crystal Palace Maze Centenary badge and a Royal Berkshire Centenary badge.
And here’s what I received:
I love the badge with the frog, and the other two are beautiful. Plus, it’s the first time I’ve got a letter with the international forever stamp, and the Avengers sticker was just the icing on the cake :). A wonderful trade!
There’s a ‘Changing the World’ badge, and the new Girlguiding UK logo.
Here’s what I received:
Two pretty Nova Scotia badges, they’re just lovely!
So, that catches me up to date in posting photos of my trades. If you’re interested in trading, please do get in touch, I’ve got plenty of Girlguiding UK patches to trade and I am happy to send them anywhere in the world in exchange for pretty much any Guide or Scout ones. The more interesting the better! :) I look forward to hearing from you.
ARGH! Stupid Tumblr! Why does it sometimes delete messages or fail to send them? Thanks to a disappearing message, I’ve now missed out on buying some Oliver and Company pins that I was really, really excited about getting. I thought I had as good as bought them, just needed to know shipping price, but Tumblr didn’t send my message and the seller thought I had changed my mind so someone else bought them.
I feel so sucky now, disappointed doesn’t even begin to cover it. I had been looking forward to getting them so much and now someone else will own them instead.
If the person who bought them sees this, please look into your heart and consider letting me buy them after all. I was the first to request those pins from the seller and they didn’t check with me if I was passing on them when they didn’t get a reply, so they didn’t realise it was Tumblr’s fault. Please, if you would let me buy them, I would be so happy. Thank you.
A few weeks ago I contacted daisy-under-the-stars asking if we could arrange a trade, and she said yes! It was a great trade and I’m really pleased to have sent some more badges over to the US. My county centenary badge is now in two different states, awesome!
Here’s what I sent:
As you can see, I sent the aforementioned Royal Berkshire centenary badge, plus a Diamond Jubilee badge and a Crystal Palace Maze badge from the centenary. We both like BBC Sherlock, so I did a little doodle at the bottom of my note :).
Here’s what I received:
I love the badges, the detail on the round one is amazing, and the frog on the think green one is adorable. Kira told me all about the badges in her note, which is nice, and she also used an Avengers sticker to close the envelope. Awesome! Plus I finally got the US International forever stamp for my collection, whoo hoo!
All-in-all, a great trade! Thank you for trading with me, Kira, you’re brilliant :).
As always, if you think you might be interested in setting up a trade with me, just get in touch. I am in the UK but happy to trade internationally. I look forward to hearing from you!
This trade came about thanks to Erintendo, who saw my post complaining that I couldn’t buy from the US Disney Store website because the postage costs were preposterous. She offered to get the pins I wanted from the US site in return for the ones she wanted from the UK site. It took us a little while to get it organised, but this week I finally received my pins, and they are awesome!
Here’s what I sent:
Not hugely clear, sorry, but there are three pins in that bubble wrap - there’s a Cheshire Cat hidden underneath the two Snow Whites. I can’t draw, so instead I stamped a Gorjuss image and coloured it in to look like Snow White :).
Here’s what I received:
I got two of the Stitch pin, so one is up for trade. I had to have the Stitch, since I love writing and receiving letters, and the Mickey and Minnie one is just plain cute :). I love the doodle of Stitch as well, I’m definitely in envy of those drawing skills.
Thank you so much for trading with me Erin, you’re awesome!
This morning I danced downstairs, down the hallway and through the kitchen just to find my mum so that I could do my “Oh yeah, I saved £200 on my car insurance” song and dance in front of someone. It just felt lonely gloating to myself.
I think I have a problem with excessive pride over saving money… Yes, yes I will hang my head in shame.
But I’ll be carrying on with the dance, thank you very much!
I just saw a listing on eBay for an Oliver and Company pin that the seller claims is “rare”. It’s currently still available on the Disney Store website, for £9, not even low in stock. The eBay seller is charging £18.99!
I feel like I should report it but there’s no option in the drop-down boxes for the seller being a profit-hunting buttface. Humph.
Firstly, I must apologise for taking so long to post this. I arranged a trade with dinejam here on Tumblr a couple of months ago, but have only just gotten around to uploading the photos.
So, here’s what I sent:
Here’s what I received:
It’s very cute! Even though she lives in Wales, she is part of Guiding South West England (same as me!) so it was an interesting trade to do. It had never occurred to me before that if you lived near a border, you could join Guiding in a different country! Pretty cool.
Many thanks for trading with me, and helping me get my County centenary badge into another country! If I can find someone in Scotland who wants one, then I’ll have sent one to all of the different component countries in the UK :p.
If you think you might like to trade with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I will trade with you no matter where you live. Updated pictures of what badges I have available to trade are on my page. I look forward to hearing from you!
I just got really excited when I found that the US online Disney Store ships internationally, because there are so few pins on the UK store website, and none at reduced sale prices like on the American one.
Chose two pins I really like, decided to get two of each so I would finally have some to trade, started filling in the information, selected my country…
Then saw the shipping price. $35 to ship to the UK. I know shipping is expensive, but really, thirty-five bucks for four pins?!
So much for finally buying some pins directly from Disney. Eurgh.
Why, Disney, why make it so hard? Just sell more pins in the UK, online and IN STORES. Because even your UK postage prices suck. I’d really like to just be able to buy Disney pins without it becoming too expensive.
It sounds so good! Plus, it’s pretty… there’s a Union Jack on the lid!
Best (super early) birthday present ever.
Currently listening to my Mum’s old Don McLean and Simon and Garfunkel LPs. I shall now be on the hunt for records. I’ll think I’ll have to buy 21 by Adele, since that is a) one of my favourite albums and b) what was playing when I first walked into the shop.
Got a £50 parking fine through the post yesterday for staying 19 minutes too long (completely by accident, I hasten to add, I left as soon as I saw the sign warning of the time limit) in a McDonalds car park. Don’t think I’ll be wasting my money on a McFlurry again anytime soon.
Then today, when stuck in traffic on the M4, my car decides to break down. The rescue guy took over an hour to come because of said traffic, then it was another two hours before a tow truck could get to us to take me home and it cost £36 to be taken the 13 miles to my house. Goodness knows how much getting the car fixed is going to cost, whoopee…
Not to mention I couldn’t get to work because of this, so lost my wages for this afternoon’s shift and can’t get there on Monday now either, so bye-bye to more money.
It all sucks.
Oh, and by the way, if you’re ever going along the motorway in solid traffic and decide to use the hard shoulder to illegally bypass some cars in front of you, don’t. It’s terrifying to see cars, lorries and even a double-decker bus hurtling along towards your car and nearly take the wing mirror off as it swerves round you. Not to mention it pisses off all the people who sit patiently in the traffic. Did I mention it’s illegal?
Finally, to all the people who laughed at me as they drove past (and it was a lot of people), I hope you stub your toe so hard the nail retracts and internally stabs you, because laughing at someone who is alone, scared and in trouble is not cool. But I did appreciate the three cars that checked I was okay. Three out of a few hundred ain’t bad, I suppose.
Sorry, end of rant/moan. Tl;dr - Being a grown up sucks, and don’t be a dick to people who’ve broken down on the motorway in traffic.
Hello GG people. I am a Young leader from Norfolk. I live for guiding and love it so much, it takes up alot of my time too.
I would love to swap stories and possible badges with someone. Please message me on here if you are interested! Thankyou :)
I’m being completely dumb and cannot find the ask button on your tumblr to get in touch with you, but you reblogged one of my badge swap posts saying you were interested in doing a trade. If that’s still the case, please get in touch by sending me an ask and we can talk about it :). It’d be great to do a swap with you.
p.s. I love the photo of the Nici sheep with the lovely Christmas badge! :p
Heard this programme on the radio yesterday about fanfics and slashfics. I was listening with interest, and occasionally giggling at the references to pairings I like. My mum thought it was all very odd. Then there was some comment about popular subjects, including Harry Potter and LotR, and I said “Sherlock!” since they didn’t include it in their list.
Mum turned to me and said, “This isn’t all new to you, is it?” I nodded, unfortunately at the same time as the interviewer was asking a gay guy what he thought of all these women writing these stories and - and this is genuinely quoting the show - “getting off to them.”
It’s okay if you’re skinny. It’s okay if you’re chubby. As long as you’re healthy and happy, any size is okay.
What is not okay is judging one because you’re the other. Just because you’ve got healthy curves, doesn’t give you the right to look down on those who have no curves at all. Who are you to judge when you don’t know their situation? They might not want to be skinny, or perhaps they do. Either way, that’s okay!
People have been fighting for years for there to be plus-size models, and that’s great. But I’m so tired of seeing posts that “support” plus-size by just insulting, degrading and complaining about skinnier people. If you want people to be fair on you about your size, be fair on others about theirs.
Some photos from my latest Guide/Scout badge swap, again arranged through Tumblr. Their page can be found here: Read-Outside. (I’m never sure if people are happy for me to post their first name or not, so I think I’ll stick on the safe side with just posting links!)
Here’s what I sent:
A metal Girlguiding UK centenary badge, and three cloth ones: Centenary Camp, Keep Calm and Carry on Guiding and Diamond Jubilee.
Here’s what I received:
I had to include the note because that handwriting is just beautiful! The badges are: 2 from the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast and two different Girl Scout Centennial ones. As I’ve said before, I am happy to trade for doubles as they can go in my trading pile.
It was wonderful to set up a swap again, especially as I also received one of the sets of Disney stamps I’ve been longing for, as an extra suprise that just made my day.
If you think you might like to trade, just get in touch via my ask box. Don’t worry, I don’t bite! If you want to see what I’ve got available, here’s my latest post with photos (although of course some are gone now, as they’re the ones photographed above!): Guide Badges to Trade.
